Researchers examined data from adult populations without initial kidney failure, comparing individuals with fatty liver disease to those without. The results reveal that the risk of developing chronic kidney disease is significantly higher in affected individuals. Specifically, this risk increases by 25% for those suffering from the most studied form of the disease, and by 29% for those with a version associated with marked metabolic dysfunctions. Additionally, new obesity medications, such as GLP-1 receptor agonists, offer promising prospects for its treatment. These therapies, by promoting significant weight loss, also improve metabolic parameters and could thus protect the kidneys.<\/p>\n<p>In conclusion, this analysis confirms that metabolic fatty liver disease is not an isolated condition. It fits into a broader context of metabolic dysfunctions affecting multiple organs.
